God unravels political systems, schemes, and nations, using atypical prophets and preachers. God’s chosen messengers stand up to what is wrong and call for repentance. And their efforts are met with resistance and fury. Amos, a herdsman and tender of fig trees, prophesies against Israel, and is run out of the country. John the Baptist is unjustly imprisoned and subsequently executed. Jesus was also rejected and killed, but through His shed blood we receive forgiveness and everlasting life.
