When John the Baptist saw Jesus walking by, he sensed something in the man that was divine. “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” he shouts. A lamb, like the perfect specimens selected by the Israelites in Egypt, by whose blood they were saved and rescued from slavery. But this Lamb offers himself up willingly, to save us, not just from human oppression, by from sin and death. He is worthy of our praise—future and present.
