We think we don’t like rules, someone telling us what we can and cannot do…except when it comes to playing a game or driving in traffic. In our lesson we hear God laying down His commandments to the children of Israel He had just freed from slavery in Egypt. He had some expectations of His people, and spells them out with clarity. But the ultimate goal was not outward obedience, but inward trust and faith; their actions, sure, but also what is in their heart.
