The first Christmas Eve was a time of new beginnings for the world. The created world, once new and perfect, fell into darkness after the first man, Adam, disobeyed God. At the birth of Jesus, a bright light began to shine in that world that had been darkened by sin. In that light we have life. by His obedience and perfect life, Jesus pushed back the darkness. So this Christmas Eve we celebrate the new beginning that is ours, not only with candles, but with peace and joy.
