How different we are from God! Jeremiah, comparing God's people to stupid children, proclaims that He will visit ruin and destruction upon the earth. Paul rejoices that he has received mercy, despite his record of violence against the church--his ignorance forgiven! And when Pharisees and scribes grumble about the company Jesus keeps, he reminds them that there is more joy in heaven over one repentant sinner than their hypocritical posturing. Human beings are prone to evil and foolishness, but we worship a God who rejoices when the lost are found.
