Jesus sums it up: “The greatest among you should be a servant.” He scolds the Pharisees for not practicing what they preach. Paul reminds the Thessalonians they worked hard so as not to be a burden to them. Micah slams the prophets, priests, and seers for lining their own pockets. How easy it is to seek the best for yourself and deem it God’s will! Instead, humility and gratitude for God’s mercy should make us embrace servanthood.
