In Scripture, often a strong connection is made between what goes in the mouth and what goes into the mind. Despite all the negative aspects of the term in today’s world, human beings are consumers. God knows this. And so deliberately commands us to eat and drink in a special way…to get under our skin and in our guts. Jesus establishes a new covenant with his disciples—including us—by connecting his body and blood with the blood and bread and sacrificial lamb; that we eat and drink in remembrance of him.
