Life can ask a lot of us. God asks for even more. It’s not just a matter of our giving up what we treasure—but it starts there. The writer of Hebrews assures us that Jesus is with us in times of trial because He himself endured such trials for our sake. The Gospel story reminds us that when we question God’s intentions for us, it is usually our own choices that turn us away from Him—choosing money or family or security or ease over God’s will for our lives.
