Advent is a time of waiting. Today, we focus on the day of righteousness that God has promised. We wait with patience and perseverance to live in that time when love and faithfulness come together, when righteousness and peace live in harmony. Even as we wait, we prepare by being at peace in our own lives and with one another; we prepare by living in righteousness and faithfulness as if the new heaven were already here. As December hurries us along, Scripture invites us to slow down, to reflect on peace, to listen for words of comfort, and exhibit faithful patience to a harried world.
