Father Knows Best
In a Samaritan village, Jesus engages a woman of rather loose morals in a conversation which leads her to run and tell the rest of her village, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did!” The opposite thing happens to the prophet Hosea. God instructs him to go and marry a prostitute, in order to reveal to him—and through him to Israel—how He feels about their rejection and unfaithfulness. Yet despite His pain, God still wants a restored relationship with His people. In that regard, He is like a father.
