What does the Lord require of us? Micah spells it out: to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God. Simple—yet what a challenge to anyone who knows first-hand the injustice and suffering that mark and mar human life. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches his disciples a way of seeing those who are blessed in God’s sight: the poor, the meek, those who mourn, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, peacemakers. Those are the people to whom Jesus is front and center in their lives. Are we blessed like them?
