Jesus looks upon the crowds gathered around him and sees lost and helpless people, like sheep without a shepherd. He sends out his disciples to provide healing and relief. Our most serious affliction, however, is sin. It has marked and defiled us, serving as a preexistent condition that should prevent us from the cure. But God in His goodness, sent His Son to die on the cross—while we were still sinners, before we realized how sick we were. His faith has made us well.
