Passage: Job 38:1-7 34-41, Hebrews 5:1-10, Mark 10:35-45

He is called the Lord God Almighty for a reason. He stretches forth the heavens like a tent, sets the earth on its foundations, orchestrates the waters of the deep. Like Job, we mortals consider this as great power. But greatness in God’s eyes is quite different. To sit at Christ’s right hand is to hang with thieves, dine with sinners, serve the needy. To drink the cup that Jesus drank and to be baptized with martyrdom and death is not something for which most of us yearn. And yet that is exactly what it means to follow Him—walking with humility, caring with compassion, living and forgiving with true power, the power of love.
