The story of Moses going up a mountain is juxtaposed with the story of Jesus’ mountain ascent where he was transfigured before his disciples. The presence of Moses and Elijah being there with Him emphasize the continuity of the ongoing story of God’s revealing Himself to His people. Images of light, of the shining glory of God, is what Peter remembers years later. As Jesus is transfigured, His face shining like the sun, we see a new world in which God establishes justice and peace for all. How do we respond to what we see?
