Can we trust in God even in difficult times? Abraham is given a horrible, agonizing task: sacrifice his only Son to prove his love of God. Paul says we are free from sin, but are still slaves to something; instead of receiving sins’ wages of death, we should enjoy the free gift of life in Christ Jesus. Jesus encourages us to be welcoming to others, as welcoming as God is of us. In all these, God provides—a ram for the sacrifice, steadfast love for those in despair, a place in his arms for all his little ones.
