Thirsty people grumbling because there’s no water; new believers invited to imitate the humility of Christ’s obedience; Jesus’ inquisitors arguing with each other about John the Baptist; and two brothers saying one thing and doing another—glimpses of the Kingdom of God. Throughout time, faithful and unfaithful alike have argued, discussed, complained about, and tested the essential nature of God. Does He care? Should we care about Him? Still, we continue to see signs of His loving work in our world, prompting and enabling us to fulfill the promise we have as God’s children in Christ.
