The Prayer

Pastor:
Passage: Hosea 1:2-10,Colossians 2:6-15,Luke 11:1-13

When Jesus teaches us to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…” He was not giving some secret formula or magic words. As Luther reminds us, “God’s name is holy in itself; His kingdom comes all be itself; He will is done and He gives daily bread to everyone without our prayer.” We are to pray because God freely gives us His Word, His kingdom, His grace, and our daily bread out of love! The prayer helps us realize and acknowledge His gifts. As Paul declares to the Colossians, in Christ we already have everything we need. Do I hear an “Amen!” to that?
