A Non-Prophet Church
Most of the time, the history of a nation focuses on leaders—kings, generals, titans of industry, etc.—but the Old Testament story line emphasizes prophets instead. Inspired by God to call out sin and injustice, demanding righteousness for all, not just those on the top. Sometimes they predicted the future, ominous warnings of doom. But they were less fore-tellers than forth-tellers, speaking God’s Word of judgment to kings and queens. The good ones, like David, Hezekiah, and Josiah, listened; but most did not.
