“The people were astounded at his teaching, for he taught as one with great authority, and not as the scribes” [Mark 1:22]. Jesus healed, cleansed, exorcised, and preached with power hitherto not seen in the world; and many were drawn to him. What’s more, His was an authority that is shared with all who call upon His name, empowering them—empowering us!—to proclaim the kingdom in word and deed.
