Amos was called by God to leave Judah and head north to proclaim His Word to the people. Using easy to understand images, he confronted the powers-that-be to practice justice or be punished. His message was not well received. Jesus, too, spoke often in parables to convey what constituted the kingdom of heaven. Like the prophets before him, he offers us a choice: being part of something grand or weeping and gnashing of teeth.
